Working with the basics afforded by nature; Earth, Water and Fire, I am continuously reminded of our connection to nature”.
My pottery is organic by design, and leaving the mark of my hands on this medium which can last for thousands of years is intentional. In this day and age when so much around us is mass manufactured for the least cost possible, I feel it is important to produce work which reflects the human touch. The items I design and build in stoneware clay mirror my love of nature, the garden and the plants and animals in it, and my love of food.

Porch Rocker

Although I am basically a functional potter who makes utilitarian items for daily living, occasionally I dabble in design just for art’s sake. The challenge of embellishing a chair with clay mosaic grabbed my attention, and I thoroughly enjoyed the process.
This old broken down rocker looked like it should sit on a porch or garden gazebo. A bit of tlc, some glue and screws and beautiful paint made it better than new.
The clay leaf embellishments are taken from leaves in my garden. Vine maple, hazelnut, coral bells, ginko, flowering current and daylily.
