Chilton, Casey

My name is Casey Chilton and I am a senior at Western Washington University. I recently completed an internship with the Furniture Bank and Hope Furnishings that inspired me to create a piece for the 2013 Chair Affair. After I complete my Communication degree at Western I will attend Tacoma Community College to take the required courses for my application to optometry school. I plan to apply to Pacific University’s school of optometry in the hopes of becoming the best eye doctor in the northwest.

How Grape Thou Art

From wines to raisins, grapes have played a role in many cultures worldwide. This antioxidant rich fruit has become a symbol of luxury, pictured alongside the great rulers of Ancient Greece and Rome. In moderation, wine has even been labeled as a heart healthy beverage. Wine drinkers, grape enthusiasts and anyone with an appreciation of world cultures can enjoy this chair. Golden undertones in this chair’s design add an element of elegance, while vines surreptitiously creep down the back legs. How Grape Thou Art offers the opportunity not only to sit in a chair, but to be seated on a throne.
