Retro Rocker
Click on an image to enlarge.
This little rocker began with 6 spokes cut out in the base of the backing which inspired the notion of machine cogs. This evolved to the natural progression of movement that makes a rocker stand out from any other chair. Essentially when the chair is in motion, the rocking is achieved by rolling on elongated feet in a kinetic energy of consistency, required to keep time, as well as replicating a steady rhythm in recorded sound. Thus the circular design elements of the “Retro Rocker” suggest motion from past dated themes in our society including rock and roll music on vinyl recorded devices or retired watch clock parts. While hinting that the chair, symbolizing rest, stands still, it may be concluded that those which inhabit the chair, sets the object in motion.
