Art in the blood.

My mother is an accomplished professional artist and in later life she taught my father to paint as well.  She nurtured my artistic talent and skills, which I use in my life on personal and professional levels.  My favorite medium to work with is people.  I am a licensed Hair Designer and Esthetician.  But I truly enjoy creating with wood and metal.

I went to college for design.  I love furniture, and thought that I would become a furniture designer.  Life happens and I was offered a position to work with a builder.  I have been a Realtor ever since.  I now work at Hawkins Poe, Inc. and I get to use my skills at staging homes.

I enjoy the 3-D aspect and take pleasure in transforming and repurposing.  My largest scale project was transforming an Air Stream into my Hair Stream Salon.

I lived in Saudi Arabia in the 1980’s as program director of American Ladies of Jeddah, and we had a lovely artist group.

I volunteer at Hope Furnishings and this gives me inspiration on so many levels.  I get to work with people and furniture…..what a joy!

This old trunk has been refurbished and repurposed into a game table.  The pawn stools are from an old waterbed frame, discarded chess pieces saved from being discarded.  The lining found at Goodwill, the game board from a piece of cabinet I found at the Salvation Army, sanded and created for the main playing board.

The chair from NW Furniture Bank, was in pretty bad shape – it needed a face lift.  Sanding, stain and acrylic paint with matching fabric and it fits right in.

The main focus was on creating unusual pieces of functional furniture from things that perhaps would have been tossed away.  Thank you Conti family for letting me work in your amazing woodshop.

As with all creative endeavors, it is a collective experience.
