Once Upon a Time Bench

With the lovely carved accents on the sides and the beautiful stain, worn lovingly over the years (likely by many people of all ages!)- I knew precisely what this old church pew should become when I saw it. The pew reminded me so much of my old fairy tale books from my childhood- worn, but filled with warm and treasured memories. Much of the original stain remains, with marks of wear and use left intentionally to keep the 'feel' of the seat intact. The back support of the bench has been sanded down, and decorated with images inspired by Arthur Rackham's fairy tale illustrations. The images were created using wood burning tools, and enhanced with translucent washes of acrylic paint for a touch of color. This bench is meant to be used and loved by children and adults alike, to read and re-kindle a love for fairy tales and happily ever afters. Included with the bench is a book of fairy tales as well as a book of Arthur Rackham's illustrations. This bench would be a great addition to any home, or donated to your local public library!
