"Summer" and "Winter"

Sherman’s Elementary 1st grade students in Mrs. Jenkin’s class went over the many elements of design. As a class they chose to make a “Summer” chair and a “Winter” chair. Our conversations included the colors, memories, and events that students felt make “winter” winter and “summer” summer. On a whole we felt that warm colors describe summer and cool colors describe winter. Students sanded and then painted the chairs outside in a blend of colors! We chose lady bugs to represent summer and snowflakes to represent winter. These were made by many hard working finger tips from all students in this Sherman 1st grade class!  They were very proud of their work and are happy to contribute the chairs to a cause that helps people in our community have good furniture.

Education Is…….

Mrs. Castro’s second grade class at Sherman Elementary has worked hard at painting and printing words on this desk chair. The class talked about what education and school meant to them. There was a plethora of positive words the students came up with; education is______, cool, together, exciting, fun, fantastic, live, creative and colorful are just a few.  Each student learned some painting techniques and some color theory to make this chair a success! We hope that this chair will inspire you to sit and learn something new!

Salmon Bench

This is a glass mosaic bench. Mrs. Reed's 4th grade class at Sherman Elementary recently learned all about Salmon: salmon conservation, salmon anatomy, and salmon habitat.  With Kate Pascal as their art teacher, they decided to make a salmon bench to celebrate the life of our salmon!
